  • Abstract

    The Theta Xi Fraternity Collection includes the records of Delta Delta Tau (1967-1973) and their reunion events (2003-2013), and some material from the Gamma Beta Chapter of Theta Xi (1973-c.2001). In 1972, Delta Delta Tau affiliated with the Theta Xi National Fraternity and became the Gamma Beta Chapter. The collection includes records of the fraternity through the years (including later reunion events) such as administrative records, memorabilia, membership, activity records, and awards. The collection is roughly 3.5 cubic feet plus three oversized items.

  • Biographical / Historical

    Delta Delta Tau emerged as a local fraternity in the 1960s (The History of Greek Life at Florida Tech). In 1972, the fraternity affiliated with the Theta Xi National Fraternity, a professional social fraternity founded during the Civil War, and became the Gamma Beta Chapter of Theta Xi. Delta Delta Tau reunions were held over the years, including in 2003, 2008, and 2013.

    Materials from Series 1 Delta Delta Tau 1967-1973, includes administrative and membership records, awards, plaques, articles, memorabilia such as t-shirts and mugs, and an oversized scrapbook with detailed records of the fraternity. In the same series are items created or used for commemorative activities such as reunions; these include reprinted photographs, invitations and programs, a banner, and other ephemera. Some items from this series are on permanent display. Materials from the Gamma Beta Chapter of Theta Xi, 1973-c.2001, include administrative records, membership records, and awards including wooden plaques.
