Biography

William Stafford was an American poet who was appointed the twentieth Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress in 1970. He is also the father of poet and essayist Kim Stafford. Stafford and Skellings had a close literary friendship. Stafford wrote many letters to Skellings and Skellings telephoned Stafford in reply. Stafford accepted Skellings invitation to read his poetry at the Alaska Writers Workshop and later he performed poetry with Skellings in Hollywood, Florida.
