Scope and Contents

This is a complete collection, which contains issues dating from 2000 to the present about the research done at Florida Tech. beginning with Volume 1, Issue 1, titled “Professor Explores Frozen Frontier”, the magazine continues to the present issue of Volume 13, Issue 2, titled “Special Report: Indian River Lagoon”. Volume 4 of Discovery was not produced. After Volume 7, Discovery started producing only one issue for each volume, except for Volume 13, issue 2. This collection also features a special issue on the 55th anniversary of Florida Tech. The issue highlights the research that has occurred since the opening of Florida Tech and explains how the university will thrive in the future. On the website provided in the “Related Materials” section of this finding aid, there are two publications, one called Volume 10, Issue 1 and another called Volume 10, Issue 2. On the physical publications, both are labelled Volume 10, Issue 1. The digital materials consist of 14 PDF files.

Biographical / Historical

Discovery is the annual research magazine for the Florida Institute of Technology, distributed to over 50,000 readers. Discovery, produced by the Office of Marketing and Communications, is intended to keep alumni and students up-to-date on the latest research that has been done at Florida Tech. This magazine is released once a year. The collection starts with volume 1 from 2000 and continues through the present. In volume 8, Discovery had a cover style change from a colorful print background to a red border for the title of the magazine. The magazine also changed in issue 10 to a full picture on the cover.
